About Me

My name is Shareen. I was 5 years old when I decided that I wanted to be a psychotherapist. Except back then my idea of a therapist was someone who hugged anyone who felt sad until they felt better. Thankfully, my understanding of what a therapist does has evolved since then.

As I continued to grow and learn about myself, I noticed pockets of society where I wasn’t welcome because of who I was. Unfortunately, the mental health world was one such pocket. It became my mission to become a psychotherapist who actively supported clients who, like me, were misjudged, underserved and overlooked.

Today I’m proud to support clients from many walks of life, with a special focus on BIPOC, immigrants, 2SLGBTQIA+ and other folks who live within oppressive systems that they have no control over. With me, you can arrive exactly as you are, and know you’ll always be fiercely honoured.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Acceptance and commitment therapy focuses on accepting what we cannot change (note: acceptance isn’t the same as liking or approving!) while encouraging us to take actions in line with our values. This therapy emphasizes building a life that’s  meaningful and unique to each of us.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Informed
Dialectical behaviour therapy stems from the idea that two seemingly opposing truths can be valid at the same time. For example, life can be unfair, and still worth living. DBT is full of skills and strategies that help when life is painful, and guide us towards becoming versions of ourselves that we’re proud of.
